What is G-Cloud 14?

G-Cloud is the Government Framework for cloud-based solutions. It is an online catalogue where public sector customers can purchase cloud-based computing services such as hosting, software and support.

It began in 2012, with the Government wanting to provide public sector buyers with an easier, faster and more transparent means of acquiring cloud and IT services. The framework usually runs for a year in order to provide buyers with the option to switch their cloud providers if they want to and also to ensure that they have access to the latest and most up-to-date tools and technologies available in the market.

G-Cloud enables buyers to pay for the services they want to use rather than purchasing licenses for specific pieces of software. It also means that buyers do not need to organise and run a full tender process themselves but instead have a pre-vetted set of suppliers they can work with more easily.

G-Cloud is now in it’s 14th iteration with G-Cloud 14 replacing G-Cloud 13.

How does it work?

A key aspect of G-Cloud is the way that it offers a streamlined and transparent procurement process that buyers can be confident in. All of the information related to each service:- the service information, pricing, supplier details and any terms and conditions, are all made readily available on the Digital Marketplace. This helps customers to make informed decisions and promotes trust between suppliers and customers.

G-Cloud is also divided up into 4 lots:

  1. Lot 1: Cloud hosting (IaaS and HaaS)

  2. Lot 2: Cloud Software (SaaS)

  3. Lot 3: Cloud Support

  4. Lot 4: End-to-end cloud services (for larger scale projects)

Register Dynamics services can be found in Lot 3: Cloud Support and Lot 2: Cloud Software (SaaS) and include:

Agile Delivery Services i.e. GDS Compliant Services (Lot 3):

Specialist Services (Lot 3):
